Some poker games also have a special fund that is used to pay for things like new decks of cards and food and drinks. This is called the kitty, and it is generally agreed upon by all of the players in the game. When the game ends, any chips that were part of the kitty are distributed evenly to all players who were still in the pot. The kitty is usually created by “cutting” one low-denomination chip from each pot that has more than one raise. This is done to prevent the kitty from becoming a huge pile of chips that can be taken by a single player. This is a key aspect of game integrity and preserving the value of the poker chips. In addition, it also helps to prevent players from making excessive raises, which is a problem that can occur in some poker games.
